Schlagen Sie eine KorrekturThis small but worthy museum is hidden on the back side of Arezzo's Duomo. Inside are three painted wood crucifixes from the 12th and 13th centuries and a terra-cotta Annunciation (1434) by Bernardo Rossellino. The Annunciation is a popular theme here, and you can see how Spinello Aretino, his teacher Andrea di Nerio, and Spinello's son Parri each handled the scene in fresco. One of the collection's star frescoes is a 15th-century St. Jerome in the Desert by Bartolomeo della Gatta, who collaborated with Domenico Pecori on the 1520 Madonna and Child with Saints Fabian and Sebastian. The museum also preserves some of hometown boy Giorgio Vasari's better works, a Preaching of the Baptist and a Baptism of Christ (1549), in which Jesus is surrounded by a lyrical, pastoral landscape.
