Das Kloster, das Ziel vieler Wallfahrten ist, liegt direkt am Lago Maggiore, und ist wie viele ehemalige Einsiedeleien an einer unzugänglichen Stelle an einem sehr steilen Berghang erbaut. Es ist heute von der See- und von der Landseite her zugänglich. Man kann das Kloster über eine steile Treppe oder über einen Aufzug erreichen.
